Tokyo & Nikko: where tradition meets pop culture
We offer this excursion in the capital either at the beginning of your trip when you arrive from the airport, or at the end to conclude your journey in style. Explore Tokyo and the sacred city of Nikko with a guide following the itinerary below:
Day 1 – Tokyo: Asakusa & Ueno
After checking in at your hotel, head to Sensō-ji Temple in the Asakusa district, one of the most iconic areas of the capital. With its street food stalls and souvenir shops, this charming neighborhood is perfect for strolling and having lunch. Your guide will also take you to the delightful Matsuchiyama Shrine located nearby. Then, enjoy a peaceful and cultural break during a traditional tea ceremony workshop. Early in the afternoon, climb Tokyo Skytree, the third tallest tower in the world, to its observation deck at 450 meters. Ueno Park, its pond, and its beautiful shrines then await you for a relaxing walk and a coffee break in a renowned local pastry shop. In the evening, enjoy dinner in a restaurant where a sumo match takes place right before your eyes.
For your accommodation in Tokyo, we can suggest a hotel in a lively district such as Shinjuku or Asakusa, or in a quieter area depending on your preferences.

Day 3, Overnight in Nikkō: Nikkō and Lake Chūzen-ji
Leave your luggage at your hotel in Tokyo so you can travel light on the third day to Nikkō. Located two hours from Tokyo by train, the town is renowned for its magnificent shrines dedicated to shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. Among the must-sees are the iconic Shinkyo Bridge and the Tōshōgū Shrine, where the founder of the Tokugawa dynasty is enshrined. Then enjoy a nature escape at Lake Chūzen-ji, where you can visit the temple of the same name. Set against the mountainside and overlooking the lake, the temple houses a wooden statue of the goddess of compassion, Kannon, believed to have been crafted in the 8th century at the time of the temple’s founding.
Spend the night in a high-end hotel with stunning views over Lake Chūzen-ji.

Day 4, Tokyo: Ginza and Tokyo Bay
On your way back from Nikkō, meet your guide again and head to Ginza, Tokyo’s own Champs-Élysées, for a spot of window-shopping. Enjoy lunch in an upscale restaurant in the neighborhood, featuring a teishoku, a traditional set meal. For a cultural touch, visit the stunning Zōjō-ji Temple and its unique relic hall. Afterwards, take part in a pottery workshop and create your own tea cup or bowl, which will be shipped to you once fired.
Before dinner, stop at an observation deck overlooking Tokyo Bay, sparkling beautifully at dusk. End your day with a gourmet sushi dinner inside the famous Tsukiji fish market for a truly exceptional culinary experience.
